Various Artists
Cambodian Rocks (1996, Parallel World)

"I've had numerous requests over the years for this to be re-posted so at long last here it is. A totally enthused compilation of some exceptional, fuzzed out, psych-rock from Cambodia. Dig it long and hard fug puffers, it'll wallop yr face!" - DD

Various Artists
The Way of Eiheiji: Zen-Buddhist Ceremony (1959, Folkways Records)

"Recorded by one John Mitchell, who I believe had a few field recordings released through Folkways, and edited by Stephan Fassett, this is a seriously mesmerising expedition and one that I recommend enthusiastically. I ripped this from Youtube as a single track, the LP is four side-long pieces, but it's still worth every minute of your time. Major league chew friends!" - DD

David Crosby
If I Could Only Remeber My Name (LP) (1971, Atlantic)

"This immensely elegant debut from legendary songwriter David Crosby is a heartfelt journey of the highest grade, casting vivid and tranquil grooves along the way. With a roster reading like an index at the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame, the album is masterfully crafted in every regard. So wallow in the cool green grass pondering the great complexities of the universe sweet babies, and drink that glowing sincerity all night long! Maximum summer jammage!" - DD

The Feelies - Crazy Rhythms (1980)

The Feelies
Crazy Rhythms (1980, Stiff America)

"Well, I've talked about it so now I have to post it. Here we have the immaculate and always absorbing Crazy Rhythms. I'm kind of surprised it isn't up here already but we'll fix that now. As with Matt Johnson, I highly recommend listening to this while drifting in and out, but truthfully it's a joy any time. If you haven't heard it dig in now my fugly little bits, and feeeel that ooby dooby!" - DD

Matt Johnson - Burning Blue Soul (1981)

Matt Johnson
Burning Blue Soul (1981, 4AD)

"Truly one of the all-time great hypnagogic drifters (second only to Crazy Rhythms); a perfect dreamscape soundtrack! I actually thought I had posted it a few years ago but apparently not. My mistake, thankfully it's here now. An eclectic blend of 80's bangers, sound collage and swirling effects. Goddamn, goddamn what an utterly beautiful album! Please lay back, close your eyes and enjoy it loud and free pretty kitties!" - DD

I Came to Visit, But Decided to Stay (LP) (1974, Mirror Records Inc.)

"What a sweet, sweet slow-jam of good times and an underappreciated one at that! Highly infectious rock 'n roll ala Reed/Bowie/Pop, chock-full of wit and deft sarcasm. Wiggle yr jiggles and squeal ya slimey bastards and dig this greaser all night long!" - DD

Harry Partch - The Bewitched (1957)

Harry Partch
The Bewitched (1957, Composers Recordings Inc.)

"The dating of this could be a bit wonky; I believe it's a rip of the 1990 CD release, which was taken from the 1958 LP released on Partch's own label, and is a recording of the first performance of the "dance satire" that took place at the University of Illinois' Champaign-Urbana campus on March 26, 1957. It's a total joy to dig in deep, but remember to stay mindful kiddies! The scale is boggling and brain haemorrhaging is likely, so dream on fuddy duddies and dig that wailin' groove!" - DD

Julie London - Julie Is Her Name (1955)

Julie London
Julie Is Her Name (1955, Liberty)

"Smooth, elegant and sultry jazz from the beautiful Julie London. This was her first and likely most subtle release, and my personal favourite. Lay back in your easy chair friends, with a nice, strong drink, and dig these grooved out jams!" - DD

S U R V I V E - LT019 (2011) (Cass.)

S U R V I V E
LT019 (Cass.) (2011, Living Tapes)

"Like many, I recently binged my way through one of the most enjoyable shows I've seen in ages, Stranger Things. It's a show that speaks to so much of what I loved about movies growing up in the 80's and I immediately fell in love. Like the show, the music also comes straight from the synthed-out dreamscapes of 80's sci-fi/horror and was composed by this band. LT019 is my favourite of theirs at the moment (pending the official release of the show's soundtrack) and I recommend it to anyone into juicy, warm, analogue synthesis. Dig it large droolies 'n foolies!" - DD

Moondog
100th Birthday Celebration (2016, Buffalo Tones Collection)

"Were he still alive and well, today would mark the 100th birthday of the prodigious Louis Thomas Hardin. A legend and trailblazer in his time, the Viking of 6th Avenue always amazed and bewildered those who were able to experience him. His music was broad and alluring and I invite all of you to share today with me, to celebrate genius at work on the centenary of Moondog. So please dig in freaks and geeks, and chewww 'dem all day long!" - DD

MX-80 Sound - Hard Attack (1977)

MX-80 Sound
Hard Attack (1977, Island Records)

"Maximum jams supreme! If you haven't heard Hard Attack then you should immediately. Jangly, wirey, punk-rock and roll with delish vocal posturing, the likes of which would make Stephen Malkmus and Co. blush like school girls. For '77, it's from another planet and would be well and comfy bumping shoulders with the flannel elite of the mid 90's. I'm pretty bummed I didn't binge this hard when I was 16 but at least I've got it now. Jam on loud and proud pretty kiddies, summer summer!!!" - DD

You can run this all day and not get tired, it's been on repeat for weeks now and deffy gonna be getting some heavy jammage this summer. Paysage d'Hiver
Nacht (Cass.) (2004, Kunsthall Produktionen)

"Some severe black beauty here, birthed from the darkest reaches of the driven snow. Tobias Möckl creates a biting universe with his music that is both fierce, with walls of blistering sound, and solemn in its periods of reflection. Such is the barren winter of life, it can sometimes seem, and sooner or later the night will take us all. Dig in before it's too late friends, this is the banger of the season!!" - DD

Sombre Dimanche (1971, Wax Records)

"Kaoru Abe is capable of delivering some pretty righteous blasts. On this (his first solo record, I believe) his squealing and writhing contortions of skronk abound! He's not for everyone, sure, but if you like your jams free-wheelin' and fierce then dig it loud and proud little bebe's!" - DD

The Electric Prunes
Mass In F Minor (LP) (1968, Reprise Records)

"Membership and politics aside, I think this album is when The Prunes really hit their stride. Prior to they created some fantastic psych/garage, but after reformatting the group David Axelrod was really able to define some out-there sounds and ideas. This one hits from front to back in a supremely psychedelic way, so take two hits and call me in the morning kiddies. This is Mass the way it was meant to be!" - DD

Vangelis
L'apocalypse des Animaux (1973, Polydor)

"As with Kamikaze 1989 I initially discovered the music on this from the movie Devil Fetus. When I heard the album in full I was mesmerized from beginning to end; Le Singe Bleu promptly became one of my favourite songs and I've since gone on to buy the LP for several people as it pops up often in Montreal shops. Highly recommended, dreamy, electronic minimalism from the guru himself, just at the dawn of his vast career." - DD

Urfaust - Geist Ist Teufel (2003)

Urfaust
Geist Ist Teufel (2003, Christcrusher Productions)

"Nederland's operatic black metal outfit Urfaust can be challenging, maybe even a little strange, but ultimately very rewarding if given the chance. What started as an ambient project became something that is at times almost shrill, often quite beautiful, and relentlessly melodic. Their ambient tracks are sublime and Vloekwaard's vocals are ineffable. Dig this sweet sweet little kiddies, and get grooovy with yr bad selves!" - DD

Includes a 40 minute live set featuring Makoto Kawabata and Nakaya Kouichi, which is not to be missed. Good to put on at parties!" - DD

Brainbombs - Obey (1995)

Brainbombs
Obey (1995, The Releasing Eskimo / Slow Dance)

"Hey baby, you look a little pale. Are you sick? Then dig this scumfuckery and get reaaal puke like! Brainbombs are easily one of the more offensive bands, lyrically, if you're sensitive to social mores (wiki warns "most of the songs depict acts of child rape, extreme sex, torture and murder"). Fortunately I'm not, and aurally this is one of the slimiest, grungiest, most balls-to-the-walls rock 'n roll albums ever made. So chug the sludge if you dare soup heads, but don't say I didn't warn you!" - DD
