Robbie Basho
Visions Of The Country (LP) (1978, Windham Hill Records)
"Combining his sinfully elegant guitar work with a bellow reminiscent of a more virile John Jacob Niles (not to mention some beautiful piano), Basho manages to compose a delicate yet highly intricate sound that totally envelopes and swoons. I am forever indebted to Darcy at DIVORCE for turning me on to this raw power!" - DD

It really is a super album, even if it's a bit of an acquired taste.
absolutely, thanks
Thank you for introducing me to this album, I love it, I wish there was more music like this.
well, Basho certainly has more albums. though none quite like this I will agree. I would love to hear more things like this. If you're not familiar, I highly recommend checking out some John Jacob Niles! he's haunting!
his voice is truly unique ... now "truly unique" is used often in a more fuzzy way. if it is the tone of the male voice then try -
1. the blue nile, their first album - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GVMnDjFKHw it is poppy ... but way more ...
2. and how about the truly gifted tim buckley - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtU-9EMSYu0
all gratitude to you for posting this album. i've known about basho for 30 years ... but never knew he sang!!! :( this album is beautiful beyond categorization. thank you!
