Now defunct, Electrelane were an all-girl 4-piece formed in 1998 by two friends,
Verity Susman and
Emma Gaze. The band draws from many different sources (
Stereolab seems to come up a lot) but they always reminded me of what a modern day
Raincoats might sound like. Full of fantastic guitar riffs, emotional pull, and sometimes drone like progressions, they could possibly be compared to the likes of
Neu! or
Faust, but theres a lot of punk and post punk tossed in for good measure. Some don't like em, "too accessable" they cheer with enthusiasm, but I think they're great so whatever. Enjoy it or don't, but make up your own mind.
